I was talking to one of our organizers from Whittier the other day,he had a conversation with a line driver who was in the Teamsters before he came here, Viking/Fedex,with around 15 - 20 years vested with them. He told him that a manager told this line driver that if we would vote the union in at Fedex that he would lose his retirement from the Teamsters!
Well my line driving friend this is not true! For one thing if I was told this kind of information, I would call the Western Conference Pension at 1(800)845-0571 right away to find out if this was true.Its your money make the call get the facts.But honestly with a organizing drive in progress I would think twice at what any manager would say to me nowadays.
This is a good example of what management would do to spread their lies.Say this driver had 10 years vested with the Teamsters and another 15 years with FedEx.The Western Conference will give a 2 for 1 vesting, up to 10 years, to a terminal who organizes a Teamsters contract. That means with a 5 year contract he would get 10 years plus the 5 years a total of 15 years in 5 years! Add that to he's previous 10 years that bumps him up to 25 years!Plus if we organize a new contract, the initiation fees are waved! Anyone who is hired after a contract is signed,will have to pay the initiation fees and have to work 15 years to get 15 years vested! Not a bad deal.
So you ex-Teamsters who are thinking of not organizing FedEx because management has told you this, do your homework. Better yet call the Western Conference Pension at 1(800)845-0571, have your social security number ready when you call.It's your money not theirs.

I am disapointed in our dockworkers in Fontana, we are like a bunch of starving pigion waiting for the bread crumbs to be thrown at us, then they became a bunch of scavengers. Please stop this and take a stand, put up a fight with the rest of the Pro Union supporter. The drivers are right Fedex is taking everything away and leaving us with nothing, but with our 401K saving coming from your pockets. And Joe nuño mention in one of the comments Fedex does have control of the 401K, if you don't me call Vangaurd and ask them,who sets the rules?. People release your fear, don't fear Fedex management when confronted about your feeling towards the Teamsters, don't answer them, tell them they can't talk to you about the union and to back off. If you don't believe this is illegal, when confronted again ask them to hold that thought and gather witnesses around and then tell your manager to proceed and ask you again about the Teamsters and see if he continues, because now you have witnesses to file to the NLRB. They mention in other comments to educate yourself on your Labor Rights, take advantage, knoledge is POWER, don't just believe what management says, analyze other accurate resource about the Teamsters, and don't fall for those Ex-Teamster who say the union didn't do nothing for them. most liklely they are hiding a secret about their past, ask for their full name and what local they work for and they probably won't give you an answer. So educate yourself and release your apathy and be strong, my advise to you sign does petition and you will be protected by the National Labor Relation Board. you could download a copy from the website, sign and mail it yourself. At Whittier they used to post information on the walls about the Midwest Teamster pension fund which showed how bad it was doing.. (like we live in the Midwest??) The articles about the Midwest fund were true. Anyone who did their homework, or attended a Teamster meeting would know this fund was mismanaged and running red. Teamsters on the West coast are covered under the Western Teamster pension fund which is well managed, and running in the black. The Management at FedEx Freight will always throw up some scary story, or even a nightmare for when you sleep if they could. They will do anything they can to keep your eye off the Prize, because, quite frankly, they think you’re STUPID!
Wow what a slap in the face. All of a sudden we generated a Vpep when we are organizing and getting the company scared. What is next a couple of barbeques to shut us up. Get real Fedex Management. If that is the best you can do we are all in big trouble. That is going to be something I would love it when the Teamsters negotiate our contract after we vote the Union in are you guys going to have the nerve when the Teamsters say give these employees better pay, guarantee their jobs, part time benefits. Is the Fedex management going to come back and tell the Teamsters, How about a barbeque instead? It would not suprise me at all if Fedex management did say that.

This message is for Robert Ruiz Jr, you don't know a damm thing about the Teamsters. Before you talk trash about unions and trying to score brownie points to management, get educated first. First of all you never been in a unionize company, second, you don't have a clue about unions and third somebody told you some terrible stories about the unions not helping them out because they were caught stealing. At WHT Line Driver OM Mike C. we have information Mike C. is trying to single out and harrass a pro Union employee. He is trying to set up this employee because it is well known this employee is pro Union. We need information to get the Labor Board involved now.
it's true about Bob ruiz sr I know him and worked with him, what a shame, we need to organize now or we will end up on a second wind get screw wal-mart greeters just to make ends meet. And we all know about wal-mart mistreating their employees too, and if you think that you will be accruting another pension fund think twice.
There is more information that line driver OM Mike C. at WHT is interrogating other drivers and employees about information of Union involvement and meetings one on one. This is against labor laws and anyone who is a witness or if this has happened to you please call the National Labor Relations Board at 1-866-667-NLRB (1-866-667-6572). You can also call anonymously if you feel he might retaliate against you.
Working at Fedex and look now management such as Mike in WHT are harrassing employees about the Union and pulling them aside privately??? Why is that necessary?? Why is it this guy is singling out employees and giving them a hard time just for supporting the Union??? Today in WHT a pro Union employee was forced to work through part of his lunch to "get the hots out".
He knew he would either work through part of his lunch or get written up for taking a late lunch. The trailer caller told him to get the freight out before he took a lunch but the worker was already going to have to take a lunch. The trailer caller should've given the trailer to someone else.
Supervisors in WHT are taking off work sometimes in pairs and it is rumored that they are meeting with Union avoidance consultants or labor specialists. as info
Another day of pure harrassment over here. Managers getting mad at employees talk Union. Same old thing. Constant negative and a bad attitude from Fedex and the Teamsters seem pretty positive to me:)

a pro union employee asked the new director of the southwest if we had to get our cdls to remain full time and he told the pro union employee if we wanted to remain as a full time status eventually we will have to get our cdls.......hmmmmmmmm another rumor coming true?????
This week is more like supervisor appreciation week not for employees. We get a vpep now why? To try and stop us from organizing while the company is trying to take our benefits what a joke. They are constantly being negative to us our familys and why just in order to try to make us quit or look for a new job so they don't have to pay us benefits they are so cheap. The customers a number 1 you know QDM but the employees arent nothing under management's eyes. We are just stupid laborers under their eyes how disrespectful to us after all the years of service we put in.
The other extreme, part-timers, is equally curious. Are they included in the vote, and will they be covered by the contract?
What kind of benefits can they expect to get? Of course this depends on negotiations, but a rough idea would help to pull a few people down off the fence one way or the other.
ITS YOUR UNION AND ITEMS SUCH AS BENEFITS WAGES AND SENIORITY RULES DEPENDS ON HOW YOU VOTE IN THE CONTRACT. THE KEY WORD HERE IS "YOU VOTE" THE CONTRACT IS DONE WITH THE TEAMSTERS HELP BUT WHAT IS PUT IN A CONTRACT DEPENDS ON "US" NOT THE SUPERVISORS OR FEDEX CEO'S. WHILE THEY CAN DELAY AND OR PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSING SO MUCH AND THEY WILL IT'S OUR TURN TO DECIDE ON OUR FAMILY'S FUTURE AS WELL AS OUR OWN. WE ON THE OTHER HAND WITHOUT A UNION IM GUSSING AT 40 TO 55 CENTS OVER THE NEXT 5 YEARS WILL BE APPX 23.25 TO 24.45 FOR OUR SENIOR DOCK WORKERS "HOWEVER IF THEY CUT OUR BENEFITS OVERTIME AND HOURS LIKE THEY ARE DOING NOW WE END UP AT THE BOTTOM AGAIN. I've read a lot about the Whittier terminal, and I'm amazed. I remember the days of the open-door policy, and I wonder what happened.
I don't mean any offense to you brothers and sisters in Whittier, but your management sounds like a bunch of scumbags. I actually use examples from that terminal to show employees how important it is that we organize as Teamsters.
You and I get to vote in the union 1st then we vote on whats in our contract and for how long. The union helps us decide whats best and whats needed by our decisions and based on what we all approve together as members of the teamsters. We also decide on any changes fedex decides it wants to make. The way it is now we are told this is your new pension or new working hours and your new requirments to keep benefits here. We have no voice here and now, but when we are teamsters anything to do with changes are voted on by us. We can all sit back and wait for more lost benefits and more of these changes that they make or we can get in the fight and join the teamsters so our voices can be heard BEFORE they make those decisions that affect us. Join now or lose more of your hard earned cash as they have been doing what they want when they want and how they want. Teamsters United we BARGAN with our VOICES. Think about your future 5 10 years from now, Do you want to be making less money when everthing around you is going up. I DON'T THINK SO. JOIN NOW AND HAVE SOME PRIDE.

SALES PEOPLE MAKE APPX 70000 TO 110000 A YEAR, SERVICE CENTER MGR'S APPX 100000 TO 130000 A YEAR, CEO'S "WOW" YOUR TALKING 150000 TO APPX 230000 AVG'S HERE UNLESS YOUR TOP 10 WHO MAKE APPX 600000 TO 900000 AND MR SMITH 3.2 MILLON AND MORE A YEAR. Why is it that Fedex Managers keep lying to us hurting our families? I guess it is all in the name of profit. They have forgot that we helped build Fedex Freight to what it is today and now have crapped all over us. What a shame.
