FedEx Pilots Accept Contract
The Associated Press
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Pilots for FedEx Express have approved a new, four-year
work contract, the company and the pilots' union announced Tuesday.
The cargo airline's 4,700 pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots
Association, began voting on the contract last month.
Almost 95 percent of the pilots voting on the work agreement approved it,
the announcement said.
"FedEx Express and ALPA have worked tirelessly over the last two years to
reach what we all believe is a competitive and mutually beneficial
contract," said David J. Bronczek, president and chief executive of the
largest division of Memphis-based FedEx Corp.
Pilots will get a 9 percent pay increase when the contract takes effect Oct.
30, with 3 percent raises scheduled for the next three years, said union
spokesman Scott Sherrin.
During contract negotiations, FedEx said an average company pilot earned
more than $175,000 a year. The union said that figure was inflated but
declined to give a number of its own.
Pay varies according to aircraft size, pilot experience and other variables,
and Sherrin said the union was unsure what formula FedEx used to estimate
average pay.
"There is no average pilot," he said.
A 15-year captain of a big, wide-body cargo jet is paid about $206 an hour
for flight time, while the co-pilot of a smaller plane draws about $106 an
hour, Sherrin said.
The new contract also includes improvements in retirement pay, health care
and job security, the union said.
"With their vote today, our pilots have approved a contract that
acknowledges their continued hard work in maintaining FedEx's leading
position in the industry," said Captain David Webb, union chairman at FedEx.
See what can be done with some bargaining power ! What are you waiting for ? Get to a organizing meeting or contact a Teamsters local in your area. If you need help finding one let me help. You are not only!

You should let the employees know that the original company, FedEx Express, allows part-timers to enjoy full-time benefits after 90 days of employment including medical, dental, vision and tuition reimbursement. So why does FedEx Freight treat part timers like second class citizens?
sounds like the pilots are happy to work here. i hear after they forced most of our dock crews to part time status and robbed their familys benefits away from them they used the old 32 hours or more per week to maintain benefits and told the dock crews they would only get 30 hours a week. now i hear some that lost benefits are back to working over 32 hours a week, so should they get their benefits back, i say yes. good for the pilots and there UNION CONTRACT. Something we don't have YET. wake up people were all in this boat together, Vote yes and sign up now.
I REMEMBER READING ABOUT FEDEX TAKING MONEY AWAY FROM THE EMPLOYEES A COUPLE YEARS BACK. THEY SAID BONUSES ( V PEP ) AND WAGE REDUCTIONS LIKE BENEFITS WOULD ALSO BE SLASHED TO HELP THE PILOTS GET THEIR CONTRACT. WHAT DID THEY TAKE THIS TIME AROUND. WE ARE WORKING FOR PEANUTS WHILE THEY GET ABOUT 140.00 AN HOUR AVG, AND OUR SALES FOLKS AVG 50.00 AN HOUR MOST LIKELY MORE. MECHANICS AVG 26.00 AND AIRCRAFT MECHANICS AVG 40.00 AND DOCK CREWS 18.00 DRIVERS 21.00 AND ALL OF US ARE LOSING BENEFITS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WITHOUT THE UNION WE ARE SCREWED. GET THE WORD OUT OR STOP BITCHING ABOUT YOUR CHOICE OF JOBS.
AMAN BROTHER, TEAMSTERS ALL THE WAY AND LETS HOLD A RALLY SUNDAY IN OCY AT THE HALL TO SHOW WE CARE. IM IN
Reply to J.T. So why does Fedex Freight....BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!
Because, collectively,we have demonstrated that we are willing-in some cases eager-to be trampled upon.Because we have demonstrated to Fred Smith, that while we may have the macho trucker image,we are less than men/women when it comes to standing up to the injustices that have been rendered to us.Because we take it and do nothing about it.Because we grumble and post all the things that happen to us but do nothing about it.Because we will not stand up with Joe,Rudy and the others that are VOCAL and VISIBLE and DEMAND TO BE TREATED EQUITABLY and FAIRLY.Because we refuse to see that if-like the pilots-we stand up to demand our rights through the Teamsters contract we'll be treated like the pilots.
So next time you-all of you-look up in the sky and see a Fedex plane remember the pilots are eating your lunch, benefits and,in some cases,YOUR JOB.
Nothing against the pilots. They looked out for themselves and GOT A CONTRACT.
Think about it,or do you like staring into the sky and wondering why you are being treated like this.
