At the beginning of this organizing campaign the Teamsters promised that if any FedEx worker faced threats or intimidation as a result of his/her participation and/or support of the organizing drive we would file the appropriate charges against FedEx.
Accordingly, on December the 3rd, 2009 the Union felt that the company had broken Canadian Law by violating certain employee’s right to association and by doing so felt compelled to file Unfair Labour Practice charges against FedEx.
You can view the charges that were filed by clicking here.

Upon reading your mission statement I can only be truly amazed at how you believe you will be creating a more secure future. As we glance back at some of the major unions in America we can only see devastation and a lack of productivity. The true concept of the current unions is to extract as much monies and benefits with as little work exertion from the union brother as possible. As harsh as it sounds, this is the true essences of the unions. Unions are the main reason for companies outsourcing their jobs to foreign lands. If the union is the true way to be why is it you do not get paid for job performance? Without this concept you are stifling the American dream and ideal of increased work equaling increased company profits which in return means increased wages and jobs. A company needs to increase profits in order to survive and grow but the unions see this as a threat to their lethargic ways. This is why Chevrolet and YRCW are in the situation they are in. A subsequent concern is the large amount of corruption that is associated with unions. Let’s embellish on this: to all you union brothers and sisters, ask yourself why is the SEIU (Service Employees International Union) promoting the health care reform act? Is your union not already providing sufficient benefits? Let’s explore this a little: when your union is placed on the new health care reform (which it will be) and the company is still contributing the same amount, where will the extra monies go? And why is it that the Obama administration just revised the LM-2 form so now there is no accountability for the union leaders’ spending? This is the monies that come directly from YOUR dues. Why is it that the senate the pushing for the reclassification of FedEx? I will give you a hint (increased profits for the union leaders from new union member dues). Do not be upset that you were sucked into believing you were doing something good. It is okay we non-union people forgive you.
I don’t know where you get some of your information liberty4u, but some of the hardest working people I know are union workers. Where is your proof that unions are out just to rack in as much money as they can just to fill their own pockets?
As far as outsourcing jobs away from the U.S. this is mostly done by companies who don’t give a damn about paying employees fair wages and benefits to people who are the true backbone of a company. Not share holders sitting on their ass’s who are waiting on the next check to come in the mail, talk about unproductive!
FedEx employees are very productive people. So now for their hard work they are stripped of hours and benefits for being so productive. What company has closed because of a union? Why would a union what a company to fail and put their members out in the street with no job? Your rap is so typical management union busting at its worst.
YRC is in trouble because of “BAD” management. And the only reason they are still around is because of the sacrifices the members voted to take to keep it afloat. That God we got rid of Bill Zollars!
Health benefits reform that the government is working out at this moment does not say that all companies who have a benefit package already have to drop their coverage at anytime. If the reform has a real public option, that exactly what it will be an “OPTION”!
So go back to your TV and radio and see what else you can start believing from Rush, Hannity and Beck.
Thanks for your comment.
Rudy,
Aka irudedog
Rudy cmon union people hard workers yrc drivers laugh at most of the services we do for our customers andare constantly saying f that I'm not doing that the union has madr these guys lazy with a piss poor attitude that why these companies fail
Liberty4u you must be John Hinkley Andy Lessin Greg Faith Mike Hutton Mike Cendejas Ross Fleck Santiago Rios JR you will be soon out of job as soon we become teamsters uncle Fred Smith is going to fire your ass for help fdx freight workers to become teamsters thanks a lot UNION BUSTERS.Fontana driver union supporter.
Andy Lessin Greg Faith WHT Jim Peterson David Chacon ANH are harassing interrogating employees about their union involvement . like Mike Caceres did about Tito Ayala's union involvement in WHT that's why Tito was harass by Anaheim management even by some ass kissers co workers and everybody knows who they are Tito was fired for being union organizer and was wrongfuly terminated just like Jesse Lopez was fired by Greg Faith at Whittier. Whittier driver.
SEVERAL YRC EMPLOYEES CAME FROM VIKING OR FEDX AS YOU WILL AND THEY STILL WORK AS HARD AS THEY DID WHEN THEY WORKED HERE. EMPLOYEES SLOWING DOWN OR DOING LESS ARE TRYING NOT TO MAKE A MISTAKE AND OR HAVE ACCIDENTS. THAT BEING SAID WE HAVE HEARD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AND MISTAKES HAVE HAPPENED AROUND FEDX AND THE NEW WAY OF DOING THINGS LIKE ASKING FOLKS TO WORK SAFE WHILE GIVING THEM 15 MINS TO GET TO THE NEXT CLOSE TIME, EVEN IF THEY ARE 22 MINS AWAY. BEING ASKED TO WORK SAFE AND BEING ALLOWED TO ARE TWO DIFFERN'T THINGS. HOW MUCH OF A BONUS DID YOU GET, KEEP AN EYE OUT EARLY NEXT YEAR TO SEE WHAT MR SMITH AND OTHERS GET. I WILL BE HAPPY TO SHARE WITH THE TEAMSTERS FOR BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS. JD
Merry Christmas to all Fedex employees who lost their benefits. Remember as Lessin says be thankful you still have a job. Don't worry I think Andy is on the naughty list.
Thank you for allowing me to clarify with snippets of what I was attempting to write in my previous blog. The first question that you posed was: “Where is your proof that unions are out just to rack in as much money as they can just to fill their own pockets?”
Answer: the following information is what their yearly salaries have been: Hoffa 335k, Keeqel 297k, Johnson 208k, Bell 190k, Bouver 187k, Witlen 186k, Johnson 184k, Dellinger Jr 174k, Young 174k and Gegare 172k. The source of this information comes from the Department of Labor, Office of Labor Management Standards LM filings.
Your second question was: “What company has closed because of a union?” Since there are numerous companies, I attempted to break it down to Transportation Companies. Answer: Delta, System99, PIE, Superior Fast Freight, Milne, CF and Cresent. Cresent was non-union then when they became union, approximately three years later they shutdown.
So I now have answered your two questions, next I will address your reference to shareholders being unproductive. Let’s start with a basic definition of what being a shareholder means. A shareholder is an individual or group that owns shares in a company. If you have a retirement plan then you are a shareholder, your monies are put into a fund or mingled with shares of another company so your investment will grow with their profits, even the Unions retirement fund uses this principle to grow their money. Some reading you might want to do is read Basic Economics- A Citizen’s Guide to the Economy, by Thomas Sowell (only 48 pages long). Now that we have clarified the shareholders concept let’s move on to the comment pertaining to the Fedex versus YRCW people. You stated that the Fedex people were very productive people being stripped of their hours and benefits. Then you stated that the due to BAD management from YRCW it was only because of the sacrifice of the union that they are still in business. This is the same concept but with a different spin on it. They are both making sacrifices to preserve their jobs. But in your opinion you believe that Fedex was punished and the glorious teamsters saved the company . And now the final comment that was pertaining to typical management union busting comment. This has nothing to do with management busting but insuring that all people are informed of the cons associated with any form of a Union. Since you are expressing view points for the pros I thought it would be inviting to show the cons. I understand that you have a cause but you need to make sure everybody has all the facts and not one sided or manipulated facts.
Thank you for allowing me to rebut
LAPD, LA COUNTY FIRE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPT, DEPT OF WATER AND POWER, UPS, UPS FRT, ABF, MOST CITY STREET AND MAINTANCE WORKERS, AND MANY MORE. ALL THESE FOLKS HAVE UNION CONTRACTS WORKING WITH THE UNIONS AND MOST HAVE GUARENTEED BENEFITS AND WAGES. WERE NOT GOING TO BE LAZY BECAUSE WE ARE FORMING A UNION, BUT THE UNION CAN TAKE THE WORRY OUT OF WALKING IN TODAY AND FINDING OUT YOU JUST LOST ANOTHER BENEFIT, OR YOUR SENIORITY HAS BEEN CUT AND SO ON. PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR JOB HERE AND WE DON'T FEEL ANY COMFORT LEVEL WORKING HERE ANYMORE. SOME SAY THEY WANT TO BUY A HOUSE OR NEW VEHICLE BUT ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYMENT THE WAY THINGS ARE HANDLED OR RUN BY THIS COMPANY. WITHOUT A CONTRACT WERE JUST AT WILL EMPLOYEES. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, ALOT OF US WELCOME THE TEAMSTERS AND WANT A CONTRACT AND SUPPORT BACKING US WHEN WE NEED IT MOST.
Heard gargena drivers had a few accidents last week couse gardena management is forcing p&d to run over the road 16 hours plus to fresno or bakerfield without experience on the gravevine specially when is raining while the road drivers are forced to work the dock just remember this city drivers never been a road drivers some of them just got their class A what gardena management is doing by forcing this P&D on the road is risking public safety and that my P&D friends is D. Liberty4u,a reply to your,"Teamsters Protect Canadian Fedex Workers",posting and subsequent reply.
There are two words that succinctly describe the current atmosphere in both business and politics-Greed and Corruption.
No doubt each end of the spectrum could-and do-recount the numerous irregularities, injustices, and blatantly criminal acts of the other.I direct you to previous postings by myself and others.
Since you saw fit to illuminate a few instances of the unions(labor)indiscretions,I trust that you will indulge a reply to them,as well as an illumination of a few corporate indiscretions at the unions(labor) expense.
Given that production/performance standards are established, and in the case of the union-negotiated we'll dispense with the,"as little work exertion from the union brother(sister-inserted) as possible"argument.
Witness the performance standards of UPS and the Fedex Pilots as two stellar examples. Two,of many, successful union companies.
Pertaining to the unions,"lethargic ways",contributing to Chevrolets(GMC) and YRCW's current woes, allow me to likewise,"embellish",on them.
In the case of Chevrolet(GMC) the contracts were negotiated by the best and brightest of both sides of the company and the union.Obviously an agreement was arrived at since a contract was signed and abided by-at least by the union. Thus it appears that your argument should be directed at the corporate negotiators rather than the union.
As to YRCW's situation, agreed the Teamsters did make concessions,"to preserve their jobs".However,a magnification of YRCW's situation reveals that the situation is exasperated from the top down. The top being Mr. Zollars mismanagement of the company at the expense of the shareholders and the union.A duplication of what he accomplished at the helm of Caliber.Mr.Zollar's track record is available to inquiring minds online. At the risk of being redundant,in a word ,mismanagement characterizes him.
Morals and ethics being what they are and being overshadowed by greed and corruption in business and politics indulge me as I illuminate what the captains of industry resort too in their quest to bolster their coffers at the expense of sharehokders and labor.
You point out that union officers/officials salaries are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.Taken at face value I assume you think that they are excessive amounts of income for those bent on driving companies out of business.
I direct you to Mssrs Fred Smith,Graff,Duncan et al who in 2008 negotiated an insider trader deal that netted them(collectively)about seven million dollars-give or take a few hundred thousand.Likewise at the expense of shareholders and labor. This deal-insider though it was -was executed immediately prior to Fedex stock plummeting.
Morally and ethically viable? You be the judge;however, excessive by any interpretation.
So,Liberty4u you see we could trade instances, circumstances, history, quips, and statistics ad infinitum. The cogency of the situation is that we,as employees, aree resisting corporate greed to maintain our standard of living;and,as,or more importantly, part of labor we aren't reduced to third world status. We think, and it has been demonstrated ,that Teamster representation is the best way to maintain and/or achieve those goals.
Finally,as to morals and ethics, are you prevented from identifying yourself because doing so would violate,at least, federal law? And,does your appearance on the scene coincide with the new Fedex Freight president assuming his duties?

I wonder why drivers are leaving anaheim terminal and some will leave when others trucking companies start hiring drivers next year may be couse Jim peterson Mike Hutton and David Chacon are interrogating and harassing employees about their union involvement just like Mike Caceres interrogated combo drivers at Whittier CA about Tito Ayala's union involvements also Andy Lessin harassed Paul R for 10 years for being union supporter and was forced to quit and Greg Faith harassed and fired Jesse Lopez for union involvements and that my union supporters friends is "LABOR BOARD VIOLATION" god bless Paul Tito Jesse WHT union workers.
