A legislative listening tour meant to make the case for comprehensive tax reform will stop on Monday at a giant corporation that’s paid a 4.2 percent tax rate on over $9 billion in profits over the past five years.

The tax reform tour, which is the brainchild of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-CA), features a mix of corporate-hosted events and meetings with small businesses. On Monday, the two men will visit the Memphis, Tennessee headquarters of shipping giant FedEx. According to an analysis by Citizens for Tax Justice (CTJ), FedEx raked in $9.3 billion in profits from 2008 to 2012, but paid just $395 million in federal taxes. That means the company faced an effective tax rate of 4.2 percent – roughly one-eighth the statutory rate reformers insist is crushing the business community.

Maybe our senate dumbass's should give up their social security, pension, life long benefits and look into there own costly run post office close that and let the work go to tax paying corporation like UPS fedex and all the rest trying to compete with the joke of a government run delivery company and also let all us American workers expect the same you fake politicians get and expect like PENSIONS,SOCIAL SECURTY AND LIFE LONG BENIFITS our company's all pay taxes and yours suck tax money. Why does the government POST OFFICE have a union but or big corporation don't think we need them. Do as I say. not as I do

If you look at the post office website post you will see the debt, no other non government business could or would be able to stay in business. Also if you look at the wage's, benefit pks's and pension's paid out by a government based non profit entity you can see why the trouble. Most postmaster's wage's are above any other corporate company manager's. Also being the government, why do post office driver's, clerk's, post master's all have there own union's. I always thought union's were only needed for greedy large corporation's that paid their CEO'S million's and expected their employee's to work for less than cost of natural living. You know, like Walmart,fedex and other's. When did people backed(government) jobs become career's.
Remember why union's formed in the first place, people tired of not getting ahead and working for low set wage's. Sure glad they were smart enough back then to stand together as a union and said we need a unified voice.
